Yonsei Institute for Global Health held the first YMJ-MPR Journal Mentoring Program during last December, 19th to 20th at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at HCMC (UMP at HCMC). This program, conducted as part of UMP’s educational research capacity-building project, is a mentoring program of Yonsei Medical Journal (YMJ), an English SCI journal of Yonsei University Medical School. It was held in order to strengthen MedPharmRes(MPR), UMP’s English journal. With academic journal editors of UMP participation, the YMJ editorial board established a development plan for MPR academic journals in UMP and conducted journal mentoring and consulting. The program consisted of five modules, including the experience of a Korean medical journal, the essential condition for being an international medical journal, and for developing the quality of the journal. The methods to improve MPR were also discussed. In the feedback survey, implemented after the end of the program, satisfaction among professors was very high. There was also an appreciation for the professors’ passion and patience to deliver what to do to become an international medical journal.
