[gMED] 2020 Yonsei-Vietnam Webinar on Medical Education Transformation

Yonsei University Health System held a web seminar with 3 universities in Vietnam about medical education in the era of COVID-19. The purpose was to strengthen the connection between the parties regarding Asian Development Bank’s project related to KHIDI’s '2020 Overseas Medical Expansion Support Project,’ and to enhance knowledge of the changes of medical education sites due to COVID-19.

The webinar was held on the 24th and 25th of September with University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi Medical University, and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Prof. Shin-ki Ahn, Director of Yonsei Institute for Global Health, Prof. Min-geol Lee from the department of dermatology, and other executive members of gMED(Global Medical Education Development) Working Group participated from Yonsei University Health System. Also, consultants from GDC Consulting and Hyundai Research Institute participated through an online platform. From Vietnam, the director, vice director, and other administrative members attended from each University.

After Prof. Dae-Hyun Yoo, Dean of Yonsei University College of Medicine, gave a welcoming speech through video, Prof. Shin-ki Ahn presented on the development and future of medical education in Korea and major changes in the time of COVID-19. Then the 3 universities from Vietnam gave presentations on the subject of the current status and development needs of medical education in Vietnam.

Hanoi Medical University and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy sent a thank-you letter, expressing gratitude of holding the webinar which enhanced their understanding of medical education in the COVID-19 pandemic, and their willingness to continue the cooperation through a memorandum of understanding.
